2/5/2014 – Cincinnati – Dónde, Inc., a rising leader in store locator services, today announced the closing of a $1 million investment, led by seed-stage venture capital firm Mercury Fund. Other participants include Chicago Ventures, Full Stack, and Vine Street Ventures. Additionally, Tim Kopp joined the round as an angel investor. Dónde will use the funding to drive product development, expand industry partnerships, and deliver on the company’s vision to improve the customer experience on brand websites and empower businesses using intelligent insights for growth. In conjunction with the investment, Blair Garrou, a managing director with Mercury Fund, Kevin Willer, a partner at Chicago Ventures, and Dave Knox, CMO of Rockfish Interactive, will join the Dónde Board of Directors.
Dónde offers brand websites a store locator service that drives retail sales. The service provides high-intent shoppers with a store locator that is mobile, tablet, and PC friendly, increasing the likelihood of an in-store purchase. For brands, Dónde provides data from their locator to inform marketing and operations efforts. Current customers include SkinnyPop Popcorn, LasikPlus, and Louisville Slugger. Dónde is also running a pilot with Kroger’s Private Selection brand.
Mercury Fund’s Blair Garrou joins the Dónde board to provide insight and counsel as the company continues its rapid growth and expansion into new markets. Garrou is a co-founder of several hallmarks in Houston’s startup community, including the Houston Angel Network and the Houston Technology Center. A veteran advisor, Garrou currently sits on the boards of five additional Mercury Fund portfolio companies.
Another addition to the Dónde board is Rockfish Interactive’s CMO Dave Knox. He will continue the partnership between the Brandery, the top 10 startup accelerator he co-founded, and Dónde, a graduate of its 2013 class. Prior to joining Rockfish, Knox was a seven-year veteran of Procter & Gamble, where he was instrumental in the digital turnaround that led to P&G being named to the Ad Age Digital A-List.
Kevin Willer, of Chicago Ventures, joins Dónde’s board to guide decisions as the company develops its product and creates new partnerships. As the former CEO of Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center (CEC), Willer oversaw the launch of 1871, the CEC’s technology startup hub in early 2012. Previously, Willer co-founded Google’s Chicago office and spent a decade helping to build it to over 400 professionals.
