Founding Team Spotlight: Ureeka
Written by Chris McKenzie
Ureeka is a crowdsourcing, membership-based platform that taps into prominent business leaders, like Kevin O’Leary from ABC’s “Shark Tank,” to provide mentorship to entrepreneurs. It also administers grants to underrepresented SMB owners in partnership with organizations like Salesforce, Facebook and WeWork.
The team met while judging a pitch competition. When they discovered their shared passion for addressing inequities in access to resources for entrepreneurs, they started to work on a solution. They knew that the process of launching a business could be lonely. And there are programs in the startup ecosystem that offer resources but do not drive results. They wanted to create an alternative.
Co-Founder Melissa Bradley is also the Founder of 1863 Ventures. This accelerator works with the “new majority” female and underrepresented entrepreneurs. Co-Founder David Jakubowski is formerly the Head of Data & Analytics, Emerging Business & Partnerships at Facebook. Co-Founder Rob Gatto has worked with 3 tech companies that were subsequently sold.
