About BloomNation

BloomNation, deemed “the Etsy for flowers,” is the world’s largest online marketplace connecting consumers directly to the top local florists and independent floral designers in over 3,000 cities nationwide. The site doesn’t allow stock images and ensures the arrangements consumers fall in love with are the arrangements received by sending BloomSnaps, photos of the arrangement before hand delivery. Named by Entrepreneur and Business Insider as a top startup to watch, the site offers 100% transparency between the florist and the consumer and cuts out the middleman to bring business back to the heart of the industry.

BloomNation is a graduate of MuckerLab and is a winner of The University of Chicago Booth School of Business’s New Venture Challenge. BloomNation’s funded by Andreessen Horowitz, Ronny Conway, Spark Capital, Chicago Ventures, CrunchFund, and MuckerLab.

The Founding Story

BloomNation was initially started after Co-Founder and CEO, Farbod Shoraka heard the pain points of his aunt, a local florist who was struggling to keep her business’s doors open. As a consumer who would regularly order flowers online for his girlfriend and frequently end up disappointed, Farbod created BloomNation after realizing that these middlemen sites were taking advantage of both the consumer and the local florist. He then brought on his two best friends, Gregg Weisstein and David Daneshgar, to disrupt the industry.
